In Nungkyyii, we feel that an instructor should be an over qualified example of our teachings and a living demonstration of our philosophy of self-discipline. So we choose the best of students and we train them very extensively in all areas of becoming a dynamic instructor. Our system of instructor training is designed to fortify the knowledge, capability and character of the student as their training and instructorship progresses. Our instructor program is structured as follows:
Apprentice Instructor: A white belt of sixth or seventh degree of the style, Nung-Do, who has received a letter of recommendation from a qualified instructor and a letter of recognition from a teacher. An application, along with the letters, is submitted to Purple Dragons' headquarters and a reply is forwarded to the student. If accepted, the student is given an instructor's manual and enrolled in the instructor's training class. The Apprentice Instructor's training will consist of a thorough understanding and capability to execute the knowledge, form, speed, balance, and power of the entire white belt test.
Assistant Instructor: A purple belt who has earned an Apprentice Instructor Certificate and who is an advance student of Nung-Do. The student will now assist an instructor on a three-day class session. The second level of training will consist of the order of class procedure, the importance of structure and format, and the image and role the instructor plays in front of the students.
Probationary Instructor: A yellow belt who has earned an Assistant Instructor Certificate and is presently a student of Nung-Chi-Do. A letter of reference is required from the instructor in charge. Probationary Instructors must find a facility and self-start a martial arts class in order to prove and demonstrate their instructing skills and abilities. All degree promotions will be conducted in the presence of an instructor with the proper promoting certificate. The probationary instructor's training on the third level will consist of the importance of the psychology of instructing with a positive attitude and self-discipline as an instructor.
Junior Instructor: An orange belt who has earned a Probationary Instructor certificate and a promoting certificate up to sixth degree white belt and who is presently a student of Nung-Chi-Do. In a special ceremony, the instructor is awarded the Plaque of Honor by the Grand Master. A facility is located and an official Purple Dragons Karate Club is established.
